Phage Resistance Work

I recently did some phage work that looks at bacteria that could have evolved defenses against those phages. Luckily, the results came back significant. I tested three different strains of E. Coli, each with its own introduced plasmid system. Then, after laying them out on the agar, I tested to see how well the bacteria defended against the phage. Each dot on the plate represents (from right to left) a dilution of phage concentration. Thus, a clearer clearing of the agar represents a weaker defense against the phage. In ECO1 and ECO3, it is clear that the bacteria did not have a strong defense against the phages due to the large clearings. However, ECO2 showed to have a considerable amount of defense by the bacteria, as there are almost no clearings for T3, T4, or T5.

In order to corrobarate this significance, the other plate that one of my labmates ran also came back highly simiular, which is shown in the image below.

As you can see, ECO2's bacteria showed clear defense by the lack of clearing.
The next step will be repetition in order to go fully verify this defense.
